Broadcast strategy & transformation

From SDI to software-defined, without losing the plot.

Intevent helps broadcasters and media organisations decide, design and deliver infrastructure change, from the vision in the boardroom to the operators who run it every day.

It starts with one question

Stay on SDI in a CAPEX model, or move to software-defined in an OPEX model?

There is no universal right answer. It depends on your content, your people, your contracts and how fast your organisation can change.

Broadcast is an industry in transition. Facilities built to last a decade now have to adapt every few years. Intevent brings clarity to that choice, and then stays with you to make it work: from strategic advice at C-level to training the people who keep you on air.

Who I work with

Organisations that live on live.

  • BroadcastersRenewing playout, studios or central infrastructure.
  • Sports & live productionLeagues, rights holders and production companies moving to remote and centralised production.
  • Production & facility companiesBuilding or expanding galleries, OB fleets and hubs.
  • Venues & corporate AVOrganisations bringing broadcast-grade production in-house.

Why independent matters

Advice that isn't attached to a product.

Intevent doesn't sell hardware, software or licences. The only thing on offer is judgement: what fits your content, your team and your budget, and what doesn't.

  • Vendor-neutral system designs and tenders
  • Honest comparisons of competing offers
  • Someone on your side of the table

Ways to start

A clear first step, before any big commitment.

1 day

Strategy workshop

One day with your leadership and technical team. You leave with a shared view on direction (SDI, IP, cloud or hybrid) and the questions that still need answers.

Assessment

Infrastructure health check

A review of your current facility, workflows and lifecycle status, with a prioritised list of what to renew, when, and why.

Fixed scope

RFP review

An independent check of your tender before it goes out, or of the vendor answers once they are in, so you compare like with like.

Approach

One thread through the whole chain.

Most projects lose value at the hand-offs: strategy to design, design to vendor, vendor to operations. Intevent stays involved from the first idea to the first live shift.

  1. Step 1VisionClarify ambitions, constraints and the business model behind the technology choice.
  2. Step 2RoadmapTranslate it into phases, budgets and a realistic timeline.
  3. Step 3Design & tenderSystem design and an RFP that gets you comparable, honest answers from vendors.
  4. Step 4HandoverTrain the trainers, write the operator processes and secure business continuity.

Selected work

From remote hubs to national tenders.

Scandinavia · Sports

A centralised remote production hub for top-flight football

Challenge
A league production partner had to cover hundreds of matches a season across two divisions, far more than sending full crews to every stadium could sustain.
Approach
One central hub with four full galleries and five compact one- or two-person galleries. Stadium signals arrive over fibre as ST 2110 IP streams into a hybrid IP/SDI core, all under a single control layer, with vehicles and flypacks for on-site support.
Result
On air from the season opener, with crews working from one base and the capacity to cover far more games than the traditional model.
Role
Technical project manager

Middle East · Sports broadcaster

An RFP for a national sports broadcaster's production facility

Challenge
A young broadcaster holding major domestic football rights needed production infrastructure that could scale with its ambitions.
Approach
Translating operational requirements into a structured, vendor-neutral tender for a new production facility, so that every supplier answers the same questions.
Result
One tender document setting out requirements, scope and evaluation criteria, giving the broadcaster a common basis to compare suppliers.
Role
Consultant
Portrait of Maarten Carpentier

About

Maarten Carpentier

Maarten has spent 17 years in broadcast technology, working on large fixed installations and infrastructure renewals across Europe and the Middle East. He has sat on both sides of the table: with the customers who need to make the decision and the vendors who have to deliver it.

That is the perspective Intevent brings: practical, vendor-neutral, and focused on what will still work five years from now. Beyond projects, he likes to contribute where direction is set: around the leadership table, on a panel or on stage.

“For the love of the broadcast industry, for the love of the future.”
